CMP SPEAKER SERIES HOSTED AN ARCHITECT

Mike Riley, partner and vice president of Martin Riley Associates, spoke to our students during our College Mentorship Program. He shared his expertise in architecture and some of the many buildings he has helped develop. Mr. Riley received his Bachelor of Science in Architecture from Georgia Institute of Technology and since then he has primarily coordinated multi-family and commercial projects. The students enjoyed learning more about what it takes to be a successful architect.

FSAPS COLLEGE MENTORSHIP SPEAKER SERIES HOSTED MR. PRATIK PATEL TODAY

At FSAPS, we love to host leaders of community and experts from different fields for our students. Today, we hosted an amazing software developer, Mr. Pratik Patel. Mr/ Patel is also one of our 6th grade parents. After the presentation, there was also a Q&A session. We thank Mr. Patel very much for the wonderful presentation today.

Pratik Patel is the CTO of Atlanta based TripLingo (http://www.triplingo.com/). He wrote the first book on 'enterprise Java' in 1996, “Java Database Programming with JDBC.” He has also spoken at various conferences and participates in several local tech groups and startup groups. He's in the startup world now and hacks iOS, Android, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, Rails, and ….. well everything except Perl.

Pratik's specialty is in large-scale applications for mission-critical and mobile applications use. He has designed and built applications in the retail, health care, financial services, and telecoms sectors. Pratik holds a master's in Biomedical Engineering from UNC, has worked in places such as New York, London, and Hong Kong, and currently lives in Atlanta, GA.

COLLEGE MENTORSHIP PROGRAM HOSTED TWO WONDERFUL SPEAKERS

As part of our College Mentorship Program Speaker Series, FSAPS students enjoyed two wonderful speakers during this time.

Mr. Paul Sims (7th grade parent) presented to the students about entrepreneurship and Mr. Derrick Davis (3rd grade parent) presented to the students about mobile technologies .

We thank Mr. Sims and Mr. Davis very much for their time and the wonderful speech they gave. Please see some pictures below.

FSAPS COLLEGE MENTORSHIP PROGRAM BEGINS ON SEPTEMBER 24

We are very excited about the start of our College Mentorship Program (CMP) this year, on September 24, 2014.

Fourth through eighth grade students will be assigned a mentor. Every Wednesday from 2:55 to 3:30 students will participate in the CMP Program. They will be doing activities with their mentor, working toward their CMP goals and have bi-weekly speakers.

We are taking suggestions for speakers. If you know of someone in our community that you think our students could benefit from having as a guest speaker, please let us know.
